About us
The concept of Palliative Care is developed and spread over 50 countries, inclusively the Republic of Moldova. In 1990 the group of experts from the World Health Organization defined palliative care and recommended to the states, members of the European Committee to introduce palliative care in health national system: “Palliative Care is a an active and total care whose disease doesn’t respond to the medical treatment. The pain and symptoms control, psychological, social and spiritual support is essential in providing palliative care services. Palliative Care provides relief from pain and other distressing symptoms affirms life and regards dying as a normal process. Palliative Care integrates the psychological and spiritual aspects of patient care, and offers a support system to help patient live as actively as possible until death”.
Palliative Care Hospice – Society from the Republic of Moldova was founded in 2004 as a professional – scientific, nongovernmental organization, with the aim to implement and develop palliative care services for patients with incurable diseases at national and local level and to implement these services in all settings across the country. The aim of the Palliative Care Hospice – Society from Moldova is to fortify the organizations from this field, to make the exchange of experience and to involve all the partners in taking decision according to the new concept of palliative care.
Palliative Care Hospice – Society from Moldova consists of 9 organizations that provide home palliative care services:
- representatives of the College of Medicine,
- University of Medicine “N.Testemiteanu”,
- Nursing Association of the Republic of Moldova,
- National Center of Training in Continuous Education for Nurses,
- Association “Hospice - Zubresti”,
- Asociation “The second breath”,
- Assocaition “Recuperation – Telenesti”,
- Association “People, Health, Future”,
- Association “Home Care”,
- Association “The hopes of elderly from the North of Moldova”.
